It really is a grueling schedule if you keep winning. Last year, we finished 11th. We got eliminated on Friday, at 9.00AM, after playing all day Thurs til 2.20 AM. The team that knocked us out only had 4 players to boot  :p

Eric

Playing as a 5 you should have been automatic :p

Well that's pretty sweet :D

What was the rule for players going up? There was a local ladies team (8-ball) that went out there and had two 3's go to 4's and a 5 go to a 6 (i am sure it was justified, they be sandbaggers).

I thought going up 3 s/l's was a DQ

Either they did get DQ'd or that was bad info. You can still only have one person go up on your team any skill level and they can only go up one. If two go up a skill level or one person goes up two skill levels you get DQ'd. At least that was the Open tourney. Maybe the womens is different but I wouldn't think so.

This isn't t100% accurate, if one player goes up two skill levels it is almost a guarnteed DQ, but as far as individual handicap it is more like 4-5 levels and that is full levels. I saw a team last year have 5 players raised but they were not DQ'd because the only had a total level movement of about 3, IE a 3 who is rated about a 3.75 goes up to a 4.25 he is raised from a 3 to a 4 but it only counts as half a level. I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say I don't communicate very well thru a keyboard :)

How was the smoke in the main tournament room?
Was it as bad as ever.
Yeah it was pretty bad. I had to keep moving from area to area to keep out of direct smoke going in my face from one person or another. I do not smoke but have played enough pool around it and grew up with it not to cry too much. But my eyes were stinging halfway through the day. I have never understood the concept of smoking personally but see that it is a relaxer if someone is stressed out. Well that meant that all the teams 2's, 3's girls that smoked and weren't probably going to play were lighting up one after another. Especially one on our team. I eventually stood away from the table cause I was starting to get a headache. And since a lot of states don't allow smoking in bars anymore, with this renewed freedom to sit at the table, watch the match, and smoke it was doubly worse. I bet people that smoke a pack a day were up to 1.5 to 2 packs a day. Glad all our regional tourneys and BCA regionals all have designated smoking areas.

But this isn't a smoking thread so don't go off on the pro's/con's of smoking and rights. That is for ANOTHER thread...these were just my thoughts
