I watched the Northwest cup over the weekend. Put on by railbirds TV, a free stream. 6 players chosen to represent each state, 5 men, one woman. 9 ball, races to 5, team play similar to the Mosconi Cup format,
All I can say is those who didn't watch missed a hell of a fun show of very high level amateur pool, All 12 players played their hearts out in exciting team play. Not one blowout match.
I really hope this format spreads to other parts of the country.
Oh yeah, congrats to team Oregon for squeaking out the win...and congrats to my honorary nephew Matt Horner for being selected MVP. He did pull Team Oregon's fat from the fire twice by winning when Oregon was on the brink of elimination.
