Well i just heard back from Paul @ jacoby, he said it takes 12-16 weeks to make a cue from scratch :( i would hafta order it early Jan to get it by april lol. Well i didnt think it would take that long, but,, to have a original design put on a cue, i think i could wait that long, plus Paul said i only hafta put 20% down for it. which means i can easily have it payed off by the time its done. :)

Jenn Did you do the tourny in florida?

Although,,,, about the cue, i guess its better than waiting 5 to 7 yrs for a Southwest, lol i could be dead in 5 yrs lol.

that sounds about right......i wanted a plain sneaky pete with metal joint and oversixed butt, 60 in length and he said it would prob be 8 to 12 weeks.

Well, i didnt think it would take as long as Paul, said. I thought it would be like a month or so lol. But i guess it all depends on what everyone has on order and stuff, and how many people you have working too.

Although i was talking to the owner of the pool hall i frequent, about cues, n stuff, cuz he has several custom cues and he was telling me stories of guys who would goto the Expos, and buy everything of certain dealers lol, and drop a check for $100,000 or more.

And he was also saying that if a custom cue maker has some guy come in and say he wants a cue worth 25,000$ or whatever it may be,, he might be working on that cue alone for months or however long it takes him.

I brought up the Southwest cues, and was like i wouldnt wanna wait 5 to 7 yrs for a Cue, i mean i might be DEAD by then lol, and he was like yeap very true.

But, i look at it like, its gonna be a one of kind cue, so i guess i can wait lol

You won't be disappointed, I have 2 custom Jacoby cues and they were both worth the wait. Im dreaming of getting another but the wife isn't budging this time so it might not happen, oh well I love the 2 I have. Keep us posted on when your new cue arrives.

Hey Dave,

12-16 wks doesn't sound too bad for a one of a kind cue! I've heard great things about Jacoby cues so I'm sure it'll be worth it when it shows up in the mail one day.

Well you guys wouldnt believe all the PM's i have gotten about guys offering thier service to build me a cue lol, i swear they come from everywhere lol. But now the part that sucks, is i am going to wait till mid to end of March to order one. Only because my bowling leagues will be done, and i will have all the prize $$ from them too, plus i unfortunately did sell my motorcycle :( which is all going to help pay for this cue. But then the only thing that sucks is i probably wont get the cue till end of summer.

Whenever I want something I start dumping spare change into a bowl. You'll be amaze how far spare change can go if you let it accumulate. I was able to get my Digital SLR after a few months of saving.

Most custom cue makers take around 3 to 6 months to build a custom cue. (if they don't have a waiting list) By custom I mean a true one of a kind. I have shafts that are one cut away from done so when someone orders a custom all I have to do is install the joint rings and do the final cut. The butt takes longer because you have to assemble it to the customers specs and make several cuts to get it down to size with at least a week or two between cuts. If you rush it, it may warp on you.
