I've never had any problems at that pool room when I go to Reno. I've played there quite a bit, during the day and late at night. About walking around there at night, I wouldn't know because I don't live there. However, it doesn't look like anywhere I'd want to be walking around at night. It's off the strip and it isn't too well lit in that area at night. Call me paranoid. I grew up in South El Monte, CA ;).

Keystone

Hey. Welcome to Reno.
Keystone is currently re-modeling. They are open but its hot as the AC is out for a bit. At least is was last Wednesday night when I went. They have 9' gold crowns for the most part.
If you go by on Wednesday next week I will be there for the U.S.P.P.A. Tourney. P.M. me and I will be glad to make arrangements to meet you. I will also be glad to introduce ya to some of the guys and give you a run down of whats going on in town.
As for is it safe to walk? It depends on where your are walking from I guess. Never had any trouble there though.

Keystone is an OK place, kind a hot with no AC and dark outside, but still OK.
Look up Ted Kidwell for any cue work, he's a local cue maker / repair guy.
If you're into 1-Pocket, hook up with Warren "the Monk" Costanzo for a few beans.

Yeah I was in Reno last year for Hot August Nights (didn't make it this year) and my friend and I wanted to check out a Reno poolhall so we went to Keystone C&C. Walk in the door and the first person I see is "The Monk" playing 1-P and then 9ball. Crazy..since the last time I'd saw him was in Seattle playing for $$$. Still weird recognizing him just like that. We played for about two hours..and halfway through a guy walks up and asks if we are the guys from Sacramento. No..sorry not us. Well are you looking to gamble...LOL.
I always like GC's so I was shooting well but not to match up in their house.

The Monk

The Monk is an awesome guy. I have seen him run racks one handed. He is very easy to talk to and I have even taken a few lessons from him. And yeah he hangs out at Keystone alot.
Next time you see the place it should be a lot nicer as they are remodeling. Hope you make it down for Hot August nights next year!
