I read around the forums about a plus 2 system for kicking and banking. However the post did not go into detail. Can anyone here shed some light on it? Thanks in advance.

There is a series of posts here on AZ by a member named DeadAim. I believe it covers the plus 2 system. If you haven't seen this series of posts you should ... click on Members, find DeadAim, find all posts by DeadAim and the Kicking Academy series will be right there (unfortunately DeadAim did not post a lot, but what he did post is outstanding imo).

Ditto that.......... except for that spot on the wall 2 rail to the side kick that I still can't get to work

Robert Byrne's "Standard Book of Pool and Billiards" circa 1978, and possibly available in your public library (if somebody hasn't stolen it, as happened in my library... grrrrr) or through inter-library loan or amazon, covered this in the billiards section.

Basically, uhm, a picture is necessary.

Note carefully the numbers the numbers on the upper right rail. By aiming at the proper number with running english, you can aim for a ball located on the same cushion, in this example it is two diamonds lower on the rail, so you aim at "2".

It works, but you need to practice some to get the proper speed and spin to reliably be able to execute the shot. It is the "dreaded plus two" because it is very sensitive to speed and spin. But when you are up against it, better to have a plan than just whacking away.

What is the best book out there or video to help you with kicks and banks?

Banking with the Beard is an outstanding book on banking (duh!). I can think of no other that comes close, although I certainly have not read ALL of the pool instruction books (only a dozen or two). To learn kicking shots, books that concentrate on 3C billiards can be very good (Daly is one).

Concentrate on 1 and 2 rail kicks, they are a huge asset. 3 rail kicking may be somewhat useful at times but the majority of the time you will not want to go 3 rails.

Bank on with the Beard!

I second this opinion. I have ALL of the books on kicking, banking and pool in general and as far as banking goes, Freddy's books are the bomb. I love them both and they have helped my bank game immensely.

For kicking, the Tom Rossman Videos produced by the Monk are invaluable as well, a real wealth of information. Very very good!

Make that a second Vote for Banking with the beard!!!! Great book to read and understand!!! I use to suck at banking! Now not so bad!

I whole-heartedly agree in both regards. Grady's kicking instruction is awful good too.
