Large Room or Small Room

Hey guys I had a question about the owning or running of a pool room.

Would it be wiser at this point in time to go with a room where there are a small amount of tables that way a larger amount are full at one time and you are paying less rent on a smaller space.

OR

would it be wiser to go with a room where there is a larger play area. More tables open things like that.

Should there be a stronger ratio of barbox tables Diamond Valley or otherwise for leagues and what not.

I would love to open a room full bar, plasmas, with like 8 to 10 Diamond Pros and some good food.

Also do the table companies do consignment or do you have to buy them all at one time.

Any info would be great.

Just curious.

Thanks
Charlie

Rent is the number one thing killing pool rooms. 9 foot tables you have less tables per room = less customers = less money. Go for a smaller room with bar and food and retail and unhealthy snacks. Lots of leagues with heavy drinkers. You are in an economy with very little disposable income right now. People are losing their homes. Very few spend money going out. Good luck. It will be a struggle. If you can afford it. BUY a building.

Charlie, for some real world advice contact Todd Rechter. He is the owner of Airway billiards (937-274-5999). It has alot of the same ideas you mentioned. He could tell you the pluses and pitfalls of this type of room.
