LD shaft

I had one of them along with two Ultra X LD's.
In my opinion it is an okay shaft, not quite as LD as a predators or OB's equivalents.
They are made of 5 pieces glued together, four of wich are visible.
The taper on the Pro X is rather nice for a conical taper and it feels great in your hand. Their hit is quite soft and they sound a lot like a traditional maple when struck. The Pro X is the best of tigers lineup in my opinion.
That said, I am not a fan on them at all. They lack on the finesse shots with hit so springy. I could not get accustomed to them and I struggled over speed control when I played with them. In my point of view they are not quite up to par with the other big names in LD's, in any way. I find more control with all my other shafts actually, ranging from schön, predator, mezz, BD SS360 and even a HXT.
Many others here adore the Tiger shafts over and beyond and that is okay with me. That doenst mean that I like them any more, and in my opinion there are better ones available for the price.

If I were looking to buy a nice shaft for a good price, I would get a Bob Danielson SS360, in P version if you like a 11.75 tip. Seyberts has them for sale, might be worth a look

Played with one for a while and really liked it. Great feeling shaft, loved the stock tip on it. Maybe not quite as LD as the Predator Z2 S Tuned I ended up too to after that, but had a bit better feel. I wish they used a brass insert on their 5/16x14 shafts instead of the phenolic insert.

Now I play with a 12mm standard maple shaft but the Tiger was a favorite when I played LD.

After trying whatever shafts I could, I'm opting for a Tiger Pro-X on my next cue. I have reservations about going from a 12.75mm shaft to 11.75, but the hit is fantastic. I was looking for something that felt similar to a Mezz HP II for a lower price and this was what I've come up with. A bit stiffer than their Ultra-X, which I thought I'd prefer for it's pro taper and larger diameter. Someone called them springy above but I felt the opposite.

...huh? Mezz Wx700 or Wx900 are much better options imo. The tiger pro and wx900 have very similar deflection while the HP II is in between them and wx700.

To the OP. I prefer a larger diameter LD shaft. 12mm is the smallest I would go and the only shafts I would consider with the current available products are Mezz and the new Samara. Solid maple with LD is the best way to go.

I haven't tried the other Mezz shafts having determined that they're out of my range. I also don't measure deflection in a shaft I'm considering. I like LD for their consistency of hit. Most LD shafts I've tried are excellent and it just comes down to the hit. I don't have issues switching between LD and non-LD. To me, you have to adjust to the deflection of any shaft, just like you have to adjust to whatever table conditions you face. That's just my opinion.

both the 700 and 900 can be had from manningcues.com for $216 (+$36 for non 5/16/14) fyi. It took me a while to find a dealer that wasn't mezz usa. Just a heads up if you weren't aware of the availability. I prefer hit over deflection as well which is why I tend to stick towards a larger diameter shaft. That Samsara shaft really is something else.
