Leagues in Baton Rouge

I dunno how many people here are from the Baton Rouge area. So figured i would see whats up. Anyways, any of u here from BR play in any leagues such as APA or any others. I use to play APA a few years back, but got out of it after a few sessions. Currently would like to get back into the rythm of it and start playing in league again. For those of u that do play around here. Do u know of any openings on any teams that need to be filled. Also, what places do you shoot out of. Big Mikes, The Rack, Lamberts, Ricochets, Bayou Billiards, those are some of which i can think of off my head that i know host leagues. Anyways, im really interested in getting back into it. Please let me know if u can think of a team that has an opening, or possibly someone i can contact in reference to the leagues. MODS, if u feel this is in the wrong session, please feel free to move it. As i didnt know where i should put it, LoL........Thanks

I'm from B.R. I'm not playing in leagues right now, hell, I'm not playing period for the moment. But check back on this thread later, I did some checking for contact info awhile back, just gotta find it again. Is Big Mike's still doing pool? Heard they got into the Texas Holdem' thing.

Cool, yeah Mikes is still doing pool as well as Hold Em'. Hold Em' just seems to be a fad at the moment. So as with any good business, whatever it takes to make money, LoL. Leagues are still hosted at Mikes also. So i guess its a little bit of both worlds. I went awhile back just to ting the balls around a bit. Theres seems to still be alot of descent players that hang around there. Also, can we get a thread started about tournaments that are held in and around the BR area. I'll start with 2 places that i know of. Cypress Lounge, in Walker, every Thursday night at 8pm sharp. Buy in is $10 and 1-3 place pays. They also host the tournament of champions every few months. The next tournament is Feb 11th, one of which i am lucky enough to be in, LoL. Also they have an 8-ball pot that varies on the money from time to time. An average of 25 players are there every Thursday night...Also, The Rack has a tournament on Saturday nights. Starts at 8pm, but must be signed up by 7:45pm. THis tournament is good because it goes by league rules. So it tends to be an advantage from time to time. Wow sounds like BR can be fun from time 2 time.........=-)

Baton Rouge

I live a little south of Baton Rouge. I've been thinking of playing some tournaments and been trying to find the best ones in the area. I did play the one at the rack several months ago. It was a well run tournament, and had some decent tables. I went by Cypress lounge the other day to check it out and the tables seemed pretty shabby.

I usually play at Clicks, but they don't have tournaments there. I've started going to Bayou Billiards lately and they have some good players. I plan on making the tournament at the Rack next week.

Also about leagues, I've only played APA in the Gonzales area and was not satisfied with the tables in the area. I've been thinking about playing the BCA league in Baton Rouge.

Yeah, i feel what ur saying about Cypress Lounge. Same ole bar room tables, and $1.00 a rack sux. I went to Bayoun Billiards last Saturday night. Seen an older gentleman there that had a TAD cue. Wow, was that cue amazing to see. First TAD i've ever seen with my own eyes around here. Those Diamond Tables are some great tables. I've always enjoyed those and the ones at Ricochets. Lamberts also has the same tables, kuch like Bayoun Billiards, it has a mixture of bar tables and real tables, hehe. I'm still yet to purchase a custom cue. Still using my snake wood Jensen SP for my playing cue. Maybe someday i'll get around to those Tascarellas, hehe....=-)
