I have fairly sweaty hands and so often my linen wraps get dirty quickly.Would you recommend a switch to leather? Does leather absord better? Thanks

Mike, Thanks.you did a wrap for me a few years ago and it was fantastic work. What do you charge ? How close can they color match to cocobolo? Thanks

I am trying to get some of the Boars hide right now. I keep all repair prices on my site. I'll take care of you.

I have very sweaty hands also, and was advised to go try a wrapless cue. The cue is like holding flypaper in my hands. I know it sounds od, but its true. I guess there is no absorbtion of moisture like there is on linen or leather. I had linen on my first few cues, then leather on my Porper which I didn't like at all. It got wet and cold. I now play with a Jim Ward cue that is wrapless and I just got a Jacoby that is wrapless. I don't think I will ever get a wrapped cue again. Maybe one day I will get a Drexler.

You need a custom wrapless cue.
Exotic front with a strong tiger or b'eye maple handle.
Or maybe, a 3-piece pink ivory handle. :)

I also have a problem with sweaty hands. I first had a linen wrap and then I decided to go with a wrapless with my Pechauer. I liked it at first but now I think I want to go back to a linen wrapped cue. The wrapless cue for some reason doesnt feel right to me and it seems like I sweat more with a wrapless cue than one with a linen wrap. Why would that be?

I too had very sweaty hands. I was always wipping my hands dry after every other shot. Plus my pool hall is always warm. I had a wraples custom dale perry and this was not helping. My opinion is, if you have a sweaty hand, you need a wrap. I went to a wraped cue and it was much better, then I went to a leather wrap and I like it even more. Sweat is no longer an issue at all.

Try usind carnauba wax on your handle. :)

Yeah. Most Meucci's have a finished wrap don't they? The ones I've seen do anyway.

I know a player who has sweaty hands, and swears by a wrapless cue. But I picked up his cue the other day, and it was nasty. Really sticky with hand sweat. He says its good because it is sticky, but he can wipe it down easily. Pretty hard to clean a linen wrap. Leather is probably easier to clean, but I've never tried.

Personally, I like a double pressed linen wrap for feel, but wrapless cues defintely have the edge in appearance. They're purty!

Oh, about the coated linen wrap: What's the point in having a linen wrap if you're just going to cover it over? Wood looks nicer than cloth.

I've seen the stacked leather wraps on a layani cue. Very very nice in my opinion.

Wrapless cues although very popular. Some people just sweat like there is no tomorrow. This will leave a clamy feel to the cue and eventually wear thru.
I would definately suggest pig skin, or Lizard. It will absorb the sweat and give you more grip. Cows hide is no good for people who sweat to much. The wrap will wear thru over time. Tiger wraps and cork wraps look very nice but the same problem will occur, Excessive sweat leaves dampness and dirt making you want to try and clean it but will only start to fall apart.

I'm not touching this one.
It's true Mike. This guy was a sweat hog. We used to work in the server room where it's around 40'sh. He still sweted like a pig when we did some hardware work.
Now, he sweats in his thighs but is dryer all over.
There's a player in my local hall. Sweats like it's raining in the Amazon.
He can make a slug rack just by touching the balls.
But, those smooth pigskin leather from Tiger are nice. Aren't they?
Easier to install, more consistent, smooth and more resistant to dampening.

I have seen what Tiger offers, much more consistant than Atlas but I prefer to buy my own skins that are not treated with all those chemicals they use. I just like what looks real.
