hello. i have a manzino cue that has a leather wrap. the problem with it is that the leather wrap is not quite black. the cue is a very black ebony but the wrap looks gray next to it. i would like to know if i could dye the wrap myself or should send it to someone. unfortunately i dont have any repairmen near me. thanks in advance.

Here is what I would try ... and this is only a sudgestion:
Use masking tape to protect the cue near the ends of the wrap.
Clean the wrap with some leather cleaning soap to remove any oils.
Use a black leather shoe dye and coat the leather wrap and let it dry.
Wipe it down and remove the masking tape.

Can you post a picture and find out if the leather used is "dyed-through".

the best picture i could capture is in the gallery under miah g's cues and cases.

The wrap area is blurred in that photo. What I was trying to check out is the texture or pattern of your leather wrap. Some have patterns that have a lot of highly reflective spots that give an overall optical appearance of being grayish. If you really want to get it real black try Willee's method but make sure that the shoe colorant that you get won't come off on your sweaty hand (if you do have sweaty hands).

thank you. the dye took perfectly and looks great.

What Dye

What dye did you use, and have you played much with it yet? I'm curious if you will have any problems with the dye coming off on your hands as well.

Thanks

i used kiwi leather dye and so far i havent had any of it come off on my hands. i used it for about an hour which i thought was long enough to see if it would dye my hands as well and no problems.
