I don't use any special lighting on my table at home. I don't want to get to where I expect it. The biggest tournament I go to every year doesn't have table lights. Just the light in the room. The room is well light, there just isn't any individual lights above the tables.

I just have 2 4' flourescent fixtures like the kind that might hang over a shop bench. Cheap money and good lighting. If decor is a concern for you I suppose they won't do.

I made my light. I went to an industrial tool store called the Northern Store and they had a metal, child's fire engine. The type with a seat for the little tyke and pedals---just like when you were a kid, ya know.

I then went to Goodwill and found a bathroom fixture, three feet long with six screw-in sockets for bulbs. I removed the metal pedals and affixed the fixture underneath the fire engine. I mounted the globe type light bulbs into the fixture and hung the whole thing above my table.

It looks really nice and when I make an 8-ball on the break, I ring the little bell. The table installer liked it alot and wanted to know where I bought the light, and said it was probably worth more than $500, "easily."

The fire engine cost me $200 and the fixture was $5.

Einstein's version was probably less than $30, including hanging hardware and bulbs.

While I was in Lowes I came across some hanging track lighting that looks great, the fixtures are approx. 20.00 each and come in blue and chrome shades, you can go up to a 50W bulb, they are halogen bulbs so 50w is good. Depending on if you need 3 or 4 lights the whole set up will not top 100.00. If you are looking for a modern / crisp look these are perfect. the blue shade unit comes w/50w bulbs, the lowes description is wrong.
