OK GUYS.....

I like others here ,am just starting to make cues, so I will have a few questions for ya.

but first I would like to ask what kind of rod do I need to order in order to make the black or white joints , I know its linen ( or at least I think it is ) but what size? I really dont want to order something I cant use.

I really dont want to use the metal joint collars, I like the look and feel of the linen, so wehat should I order, in size? Not so much the length but the dimensions?

Also do es one have to order rod and make his own or is there plastic or linen collars that are prefabbed?

I will ask more questions as I go , as not to lose focus on one thing at a time.

I REALLY APPRECIATE ANY HELP I CAN GET....SO THANKS IN ADVANCE :)

I usually buy the .910" OD with .625" ID Double black linen rod, or Jet black depending on supplier for joints. 1.125" OD with .625 or .750" ID for wrap joint. 1.375" OD with .750" ID for butt plates and rings.
OD= Outside Diameter
ID= Inside Diameter
Good luck in your pursuit of cue building.

It can get pricey

buying phenolics, you can easily be set back at least $400 for an assortment of rods. You may want to get precut pieces from cuecomponents.com and get started making maybe 3 cues without that investment. I went with the expensive option and I am not sorry, but maybe most will prefer a slower step into all this...good luck!

Another source

You might want to look at Dan Trogdon's site. You can buy black linen joint and butt parts individually (no minimum order) if you don't want to make a large investment in rod and/or tube.

I haven't purchased linen from Dan, but I have bought other items from him and he's a good guy. I, like many others who post here, have been burned by Cue Components in the past and would not recommend him to anyone.

THANKS GUYS

Chris....I really appreciate all your advice and help. O yea I have been turning down some buckhorn material and man you talk about nice ....it is as smooth as anything I have seen ,with a look of marble.....of course it is no were near white , it is a dark color, and every piece has a different look and pattern of colors.......but I like it very much, I hope it has the hit I hope to achieve with my cues....of course I am several weeks , if not months from producing any worthwhile products.....so keep me in your prayers and also expect my calls:D :D :cool: :cool:
