Linen Wrap Question?

ok, i messed up one thing on the new Jacoby. the irish linen wrap is too smooth, almost like it will slip at times, and i dont like them that way.

when i had the wraps changed on a couple of other cues the cuemaker somehow managed to keep the linen wrap sort of "rough", which felt better to me.

so, is there anything i can do with this linen wrap at this point in time? do they make anything out there than i can apply to the wrap to make it rougher, or seem a little more sticky?

thanks for any help,
DCP

email or call jacoby........ask them, i'm sure they can answer that for you.

also, have you considered a leather wrap? i'm not the biggest fan of irish linen but i love the feel of a leather wrap.

i would think that after using the cue a while the "newness" of the linen will wear off and won't feel that way though.

thanks

VAP

I agree with VAP, the linen wrap in many new cues is quite shiny and slippery but after some usage the wrap gets a little bit rougher providing more grip thus making it better, IMHO.

Regular wax paper from the super markey works great. Just rub a little at a time, I should say twist a little at a time.

I have found that a rub with a damp towel will do the trick. It raises the pressed fibers of the linen.

I once tried to clean a dirty linen wrap with a moist rag (not wet just moist).
After rubbing the wrap with the moist rag the linen wrap became rough as if I had raised the grain so to speak. I read somewhere that to get it back to the smoother feel to spin the butt (in a lathe if you have one) using waxpaper. I guess the wax paper basically reburnishes the wrap in turn making it smooth again. I haven't had any problems with mine but I would surely not use to much moisture as it may affect the glue holding the wrap titghtly to the handle. I too would talk with Jacoby to see what they reccomend. Best of luck.

You can get roll on rubber grips from Mueller's. Plenty of grip and no damage to the wrap.
