The room for our regular Sun 9ball tourney closed, so now we are at another room. Yesterday, I got "rooked" into running it from now on. We are using a different format. Instead of races to 3 with the better players going to 4 or 5, we are going to 7 and giving extra money balls and some get the break too.
So, yesterday, I'm giving a guy the 5 and the breaks. First break makes the 5 cross side. Second break, 9 gets kicked in. Third break, 9 gets kicked in. Fourth break, 9 gets kicked in. (so far it's been kicked in the corner, the side, and the corner up table). Next three racks, I win. Next rack, makes 4 balls on the break including the 1 and 2. He makes the 3, 4, and then the 5. Next two racks I win. Score is now 5-5. Next break he makes the 9 AGAIN! Kicked in the corner again. Next break he makes a ball, makes the 1 up table, cb comes down table and hits another ball, sending that into the tied up two, and getting perfect shape on the 2.
Makes the 2 and gets bad on the 3. Gives it a good wack, misses the pocket, but the cb hits another ball which hits the 9 and slops the 9 in for the win!:frown: So, in a race to 7, he snaps it in 5 times, and lucks it in once. :frown:
That was my second match, lost the first match to a guy that as soon as he made the final 9 he yells out "that's the first time in 20 years I beat Neil!" Even though I wasn't running the tournament, everyone kept coming up to me asking me the rules, ect., and I had zero focus on the game. After that match, I ended up running the show anyways because no one else wanted to.
You just got to love 9 ball sometimes! It can be so sweet a game, and other times so brutal!
