Locking cue rack mechanism

I recently acquired a vintage Brunswick Collander 12 cue rack. There are two metal pieces on either side that seemed to hold a locking bar. Was this a factory option or accessory? The metal on the left side wraps around the contour and has a hole for a rod. The right hand side piece has a locking mechanism, both are held with slotted screws. Does anyone have a picture of the rod or gate themselves? Any help would be great. I put in a pic of the table which came with it as well to which I think is a wellington

Just judging by the appearance I would guess that it was added by the owner way back when... To me it just looks a little "crude" to be original equipment. That being said, it also looks quite old so it goes with the rack nicely.

Now somebody who knows what they are talking about can tell you what it really is:D
