Looking at a Meucci Casino 10

Good day all. I've been going crazy the last month trying to find a new shooter. The stores in my area don't carry any higher end production cues in stock. I had been leaning towards a Predator. I ended up winning a shopping trip from my work. Sales contest where the owner takes us out to dinner and then we get 1500.00 CAD to spend in a mall. So that changed my focus a bit. The mall has one games room store that can order just about anything from Cuestix international. The Preds that I want aren't in stock and months away.

Looking at other products, the Meucci's have always caught my eye. The Casino series in particular.

Casino 10 is the one on my mind.

Anybody have any recent experience with Meucci? Is all the internet hate justified or a case of all the bad reviews and posts float to the top.

Also am I sleeping on a brand/cue that I should have a look at from the Cuestix options?

Thank you in advance.

Meucci got a bad reputation for lead time and service. They were bought out about a year and a half ago and the new owners have really focused on quality and service. They have done a great job on both. I have toured their plant and was so impressed that I eventually bought one. The inlays are cut manually with a pantograph and the inlays a placed by hand...their cues are still hand-made. I couldn't spend the money on a Casino but I am on the lookout for a good used one. I bought another Meucci in an auction late last year and sent it back to get reworked in Jan.. It took about 6 weeks and I am very pleased with how it turned out. Also, I have heard good things about their carbon fiber shaft, but I use the Pro shaft and rally like the feel.

Good to know. Thanks for the feedback. I've always heard great things about the brand when I played years ago. Seen a few in person, never had the pleasure of shooting with one. For production cues I feel they're the most beautiful out there. I know it's subjective. Would love to tour the factory one day.

I wish the company would do better marketing on social. I'd love to see something like what Taylor made does for golf. (Same could be said of all manufactures)

They have started doing some marketing... I think they wanted to be confident that they had improved their quality, service and lead time before they started marketing. They have recently redone their website as well.

I've tried the Casino 10 with the 2nd version carbon shaft.
Out of all the BMC Casino series i have had, the 10 was by far the worst. Ordered with a matching extension 8" and it was about 2 mm thicker than the butt itself. Not to mention the fact that the butt couldn't fit in 4 of my cuebags because it was to freekin' thick.
I strongly recommend you to contact sales@meuccicues.com before you place the order.

Btw, with the new ownership of Meucci Cues, the service has improved alot...

Thank you so much for the reply. Good to know. I had emailed Meucci a few times and they were very responsive. Which was a good sign.

The Casino series and the 10 in particular are stunning cues. On my list to have in the collection one day.

I did end up buying a Mcdermott H754 with Defy and a Vanquish VQ1 Break cue from a local dealer to me. Should be here in the next few weeks. Walked in to a store that sells pool tables and hot tubs. For cues they only sell McDermotts. The manager let me shoot a bit with his player and then take a few breaks with his VQ1 when I went to order a few days later.

McDermott was never on my radar to be frank. Never knew anyone or shot with one before.

As for the contest I ended up buying a dining room set for the house. The dealer at the mall is what it is. Pool isn't their focus anymore. They cleared out what was a pretty decent billard offering and added more games sans a couple of tables and some random accesoories and a couple dozen $100-200 cues. Plus I wanted a few customizations that they couldn't accommodate. (Different cards on cue, matching joint protectors, shaft length and carbon shaft)

I totally understand your opinion on the BMC Casino 10. That cue is sexy AF.
Happy to hear you bought cues.
McDermott is underrated. Got a few older models myself.
Have heard nice reviews on the Vanquish, so that's a good buy.

Agree with all of the posts regarding the improved experience doing business with Meucci. I've been a Meucci lover since the 80's and have owned many over the years. I've recently acquired a few more and consider them great value for the money. Since the new owners have taken over, service and response time has greatly improved. They CALL ME to let me know how my order or service work is progressing. I'm quite happy. Regarding marketing, they have put out a new website, added accessories and apparel, have a functioning online ordering system, and actively advertise .

My currrent collection includes:
  • Meucci Diamond Ebony with CF and Kielwood Shafts
  • Meucci Casino-8 with CF and Kielwood Shafts
  • Meucci Casino-10 with CF and Wood Shafts
  • Meucci Piano with CF and Wood Shafts (new, never used)
  • Meucci Gambler-2 with Red Dot and two Black Dot shafts (new, never used)
  • Meucci 97-21b with CF and Wood Shafts
Regarding the Casino-10, I like it, but don't love it, without the CF shaft. The Pro shaft feels a bit dead for some reason on this cue. I like the Pro shafts just fine on my others. The new Kielwood shafts are terrific.

Just my $0.02

I certainly like my 95-11
a very nice looking cue!

Stick with simple designs. I would not buy a Meucci all loaded up with inlays. I just see them 'popping' before long.

I have owned over two dozen Meucci cues over the year and never had a single one with a problem. I currently own over 20, most unplayed, none with an issue, some going back over 20 years.

In my Collection are also the Diamond Ebony version, their top of the line. It competes very well against my other high end cues, Carmeli, Tonkin, etc...
