Looking for a 3/8-14 Tap

I'm having trouble finding some of the more obscure tap sizes at local places and was wondering where the best place to buy is. Atlas has them for about $50 which seemed a little high, but maybe it's not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

I know Mr. Webb has mentioned a place that makes custom taps, but i can't remember for the life of me who it was...

they are the same ! :D

Well they aren't 50 bucks. Or maybe they are with shipping?

Jack,

Your best bet would be to get the one from atlas if you really need one.
It is a good quality tap.

I paid more than $50. for mine. I have three. When it comes to tools no price is to high if you get what you want.

I go to travers for taps I have not had a problem with any taps I have gotten from them. I think they cut better than the ones I have gotten from atlas. www.travers.com they have most sizes and alot of them arent very expensive. I got 2 of each of the standard ones for less than $50. Most taps there are 8-15 bucks. Not bad.

I'm glad you understand, Atlas sure didn't when I told them there were selling a tap for Omega/Bender not cutec. Everyone thinks it's always easy and inexpensive.

Travers has the short 3/8-14. It is a full size tap. If you are wanting it for Cue Tech then the fit will be very loose. Cue Tech is really about 1/64 undersized.
Chris

that's really good to know, because my playing cue is an omega which is one of the reasons i was interested in that tap size. but now i don't know where to get a pin for the joint protectors i'd like to make as i was going to pull one from a broken cuetec i have at the store.
