Hi,

I am in the market for a new cue. Would like to go see a cue maker near the Raleigh area.

Thanks

I live in Raleigh and we have a couple of great local cue makers.

If you are looking for something that hits great but doesn't break the bank, then you should look up Bill Stelzenmuller, Phone: 919-467-3096. He is a great guy with a wealth of knowledge and personality. He is also the most meticulous person for the money I have ever worked with and I have owned several of his cues.

If you are looking for something that is high end and a little more well known, then you should check out Doug Beasley (not sure of his phone #, but should be easy to find). He makes an excellent cue and is currently active and a great driver in the pool community in and around NC.

Hope this helps!

AZB definitely needs more resources for cue makers especially lesser known and upcoming guys. As much as I love getting a Lambros or a Barenbrugge there is just something really exciting about getting a cue from a lesser know guy, or from someone really early in their career.

Thanks for the replies. i have been trying to reach Bill with no luck. Called and left message with nothing.

Thanks

I agree completely. I had a Lambros before I went to one of Bill's cues, and asked him to replicate the feel and hit. He was not only able to make it hit the exact same, but the cue was a totally different style. The cost was less then 1/4 of what I sold the Lambros for and I even got an extra shaft made as a backup.

Bill normally takes around 3 weeks off at the end of July to travel with his wife (they are both retired and he only builds as a hobby). This is common and you should be able to reach him in a couple of weeks.

Awesome! thanks for the heads up. Looking forward to seeing what he can build for me.

Thanks,

Jose

eazyrace another way to get a hold of Bill is his email billstelz@aol.com. Like Straw_Hat said he is great to work with and has lots of stories. He built my first custom back in 2002 and did three more for my father in law, brother, and me two years ago. Plus he did up a shaft for my daughter and did the wrap on a custom butt I had picked up years ago for free. He loves to promote the game to kids. The process with him is he will let you shoot around with several cues to find out what length, weight, tip size, and handle size you like. Then he will take you too his shop where you will go over the selection process of wood, wrap, joint,...etc. Good luck on your cue.
