Looking for break cue in Chicago

Almost one year ago, I spent an afternoon trying cues at a store & purchased a very satisfactory playing cue. However, the stores accessible to me in Kentucky do not stock break cues. I will be in Chicago next week & I am hoping that a city that large might have a store where I could try the various break/jump cues advertised & purchase one.

Any suggestions?
 
For stroking maybe

but not to play. Most cuemakers, stores, etc. will not let you chalk up a stick because it then looks 'used', and other people perceive they are getting a 'used' cue for a 'new' price.
 
I have bought several things from Nielsen's Billiards (sp) he is on EBAY and located in Chicago. Also look up Erik Lee's Cues he is a member off this forum under Doosiexx or something he is also in Chicago, sorry hope this helps.
 
You would think a large city like Chicago would have a larger billiard store with lots of cues, but there isn't one in the city limits. You have to go out to the suburbs at least an hour drive or more from downtown. If you won't have a car, forget about it.

If you have a car you might try a couple stops but I would call first to check the break cue selection. Protyme in Orland Park and Erik Lee Cues in Aurora would be where I would start, but call first and see what they have before you go out there.
 
I agree, in Chicago Erik Lee (erikleecues.com) or Pro-Tyme Orland Park will be the 2 places to find break cues. Joe Nielsen is not in chicago....I believe he is in Springfield, perhaps a 2.5 hours drive away.

I think Erik stocks largely J&J break cues, which IMO are great for the money. He might also have a BK for sale. I don't remember Pro-Tyme having break cues.....if you are trying to find places where you can try a sledge or an xbreaker it will be tough....your best bet is really to call ahead and ask. Also, going to the pool hall and making some friends with people who actually have these cues might be a good idea, if they're nice they will let you try it out.
