im looking for help on a problem i got. i shoot with an i 2 shaft(which i love and wouldnt trade for anything) and for about the last 4-5 months ive been getting a ring of chalk around my shaft about 2-3 inches down from the tip. a guy in my local pool room says its an oil ring and didnt have a way to fix the problem. i've been tryin to just block it out when im shooting but it made me lose a tourney last night and im fed up. any help? thanks glasscitypool

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that it could be from holding your cue with your hand in that position when you are chalking up. Probably the best solution is to try to keep your hand(s) wiped clean of sweat more and wiping down your cue after each use. I don't have any special recommendations about how to clean off what's there now. I use a Magic Eraser every once in a while. After using it, I burnish my shaft with leather, which makes it smooth as glass and (I think) closes up the pores so that oil, chalk and dirt don't penetrate. FWIW

I had some chalk stains (for lack of a better word) on my cue I used a magic eraser with 90% alcohol to wet it. This made my shaft look brand new it also cleaned the ferrel to like new. DO NOT USE WATER!!!!!!!;)

thanks for the info so far im gonna try some of the new stuff and i have been using a magic eraser why not water with that?
