I've got a Cue made out of Kingwood. Which is nearly identical to Cocobolo an if Nobody was Told, Theyd never know the Difference. I'll get some of thee better pictures of the Cue. Although this Cue is used, I'd give this Cue a minimal 9.75 of 10 & Being Honest it's only been used for 2 evenings playing a couple hrs of games of 9 Ball & 8 Ball so it's not like it's been used hardly any

What it DOES HAVE is a lot of time in my 4x8 as Rugged JB Case

Big fan of Fury NA series, Cuetec's CER and CEV or Universal UN114 (sometimes also called U-1... U-4).

As for cuemakers, look and search around using the Googles, they spit out a lot.
Cocobolo is the new maple.

kingwood plays good
Chuck Starkey, while not a "big cue maker" makes a lot of one piece butts, very reasonable on prices too

One problem with a one-piece coco butt is keeping it straight. You'd probably have to core the full length so weight could become an issue.
