Looking to attach a chuck to a motor

I have a few old motors laying around and was wondering if anyone had ever put a chuck onto the shaft. I'd like to use this for tip replacement and shaft cleaning.

Maintenace pin in a cordless drill for shaft cleaning. Probably cheaper than the price of a chuck. Plus you would need some way to trim your tip

A chuck would likely chew up the end of the shaft. Maintenance pins, as Chuck suggests are a much better choice.
But for cleaning only.

While you haven't mentioned what type of motor you have laying around, I am going to assume it is AC, and not variable speed. If so, it is probably a 3600 rpm motor and will be way too fast for most cue work.

I was in your boat few years ago and wanted something that would spin a shaft and had motors. I bought one of these and a cheap chuck off Amazon, hooked up a motor and it worked great. I added a bearing block to hold the other end, actually started doing tips on it with success. I now have 2 lathes but still use it for wraps
