Louisville Observations

Cliff gave Billy Incardona 10-6 then 9-5/10-5 and beat him 9 games. He never missed a ball or a short rail bank.

Then cliff gave Adam Smith 10-7 and beat him mercilessly. It was ugly. Cliff played 16 games of one pocket in this session and lost 2 games.

He played the best 1 pocket I've ever seen. I think Billy is still recovering somewhere. I'm sure he thought he had the nuts which makes sense cause he usually does.

The smoke in the lounge was a deal killer for the action. There were a lot of cheap sets played.

Sparky practiced for 2 days and lost a 10 ahead set to Hennesey in about 15 minutes. He won 1 game I think and pocketed less than 15 balls in the entire 10 ahead set.

Its a good tournament to go to but the parking is terrible and all the fans that came to watch were rewarded by having their cars towed if they were parked in the yellow zone. I heard the security guards laughing about it. They thought it was cute that people were gonna go outside and see their cars towed.

They need 9 foots upstairs and they need food/beer service upstairs also.

I know this is the greatest thing going in pool but there are about 200 things they could do to make it better.

In my opinion, the whole experience was highly overrated because the people that want to gamble and the people that like to watch were treated like second class citizens.

Also - if it wasn't for people like Ricky Byrd they might as well call the tournament off. He was the livest guy there. The other so-called big stakehorses managed to show up for 1 day or so and leave.

There were a million shortstops running around playing relatively cheap. There simply aren't enough 9 foots in the lounge to accomodate what would naturally otherwise transpire in an enviornment like this (even more gambling).

I know my words fall on deaf ears and its easy to be a critic but this tournament isn't even close to being as good as it could be.

OhMy,

Your words don't fall on deaf ears. Your input is heard, and, trust me: Grady seeks to make the DCC better every year.

Just remember:
A craftsman can only be as good as the tools he uses,
Hindsight is always 20/20,
The grass is always greener...Hope you get my point!

I don't want to try and run an event like the DCC.

I agree 100%

I agree 100% with both OhMy & Piglit. There are definitely some changes that would enhance the DCC experience but as it is - It's The Best We Now Have.
IT'S KINDA LIKE OUR USA - IT CAN IMPROVE - BUT - IT'S STILL THE BEST.

I can't imagine the hotel not capitalizing on the late night crowds that were there looking for a drink & or a sandwich. Apparently there aren’t any local laws that prohibit the selling of anything but the snack bar by the tourney room shut down the first two nights at 2 am. Then they started to shut down at 4 am.
THIS IS A 24/9 EVENT AND THERE IS MONEY TO BE MADE AND CUSTOMERS TO BE SERVED AT ALL HOURS.
The good thing was that they didn't say a word about people bringing coolers or anything else from their rooms.
I had some business to conduct and asked the general manager if I could use his office equipment to type and email & print some documents and he was very accommodating. He said the parking would improve next year as there will be more and the big construction trucks will be gone.
A good waitress could have made $1,000 a night just buying drinks (retail) from the snack bar and serving them in the lounge to sweaters who didn't want to give up their seat.
THIS YEARS TOURNEY WAS THE BEST I HAVE EVER BEEN TO &
NEXT YEAR WILL BE AWSOME !!!

What does Grady have to do with anything? I didn't even see him anywhere for the 3 days I was there. I guess he left after the ring games were over.

If not for the patrons, the security guards would be off molesting small children or whatever they do every other night when the derby isn't in town. Yet they found humor in the car towing episode. I have never seen anyone more deserving of a beatdown than I did in that very moment.

grady m.

oh no he did not leave, you missed him in his blue bunny running suit, upmost respect for you grady, but to wear that outfit you better ready to run . STICK :D :D :D :D
