Lucasi Hybrid - Simply Hype or Money!

I’m interested in any feedback regarding the Lucasi Hybrid line. Has anyone been successful in moving into the 11.50mm pro taper, or remained with 12.75mm regular shaft. It appears that Lucasi is promoting this as a premium upgrade, and compete with the Predator Z model. I’m not including true CF shafts even though some may believe that this is the best LD option.

1) What do you like/dislike about the Lucasi Hybird?

2)Why would some prefer to turn down to 12.5mm rather than go small with the 11.75?

3) How is the durability of the hybrid grip over a linen wrap?

Hello, my first good cue was the Lucasi Hybrid and I played with it for several years. I like cues with soft rubber grips and own - Lucasi, Scorpion, Cuetec and PureX .... models that have rubber grips. The worst has been PureX where pieces of rubber start to come off in 1 - 2 years time. The Cuetec which has the softest rubber lasted about 3-4 years, scorpion has just been a year and holding ok so far. Lucasi grip was 7-8 years. Keep it noted that the initial softness when cue is new, will wear off. I don't prefer linen wrap, so can't compare. But the feel of rubber grip is more important to me than the durability.

The shaft is a typical low deflection shaft ... mine are the old shafts, so not sure how the new Lucasi shafts stack up vs say Z3 or Mezz.

Shaft size is a personal preference - for me 11.75 feels too slim and 13.00 mm thick.

Most Lucasi (may be all, am not sure) have the Uniloc joint, which is not my favorite, as it tends to get loose. I got into the habit of checking it before every game.

If rubber grip is the main criteria for you then you can look at the other ones I have mentioned.

Thanks for the feedback - I went with a Lucasi LHE20 w/ 11.75mm pro taper shaft. The conical and slim models are too extreme for me. My BK breaker has a sport grip so I’m excited about trying out the hybrid grip. You’re on point about the uniloc issues. Mine actually separated after a break, and I have to check it once in a while (don’t tighten it more!). As for accuracy - I say don’t sweat the small stuff that causes you not to commit to the shot. I walk the table - check my position/angles - find the best path to my next shot. That’s another post so let’s get more runouts!

Having received the Lucasi LHE20 - A question came up from a comment made regarding the LH and LC shafts. A buyer reported having purchased the LHE20, chalked, and ran a few balls. He later noticed that he was shipped a LC shaft with the Hybrid butt. He questioned the seller and Lucasi, but was unable to resolve the issue.
QUESTION - Are the Hybrid butts supposed to be matched with a Hybrid shaft? A product on a stick does not mean that it’s the correct item. Do I RMA the cue back and rant on Lucasi?

Congratulations! Which shaft did you receive? One of my shaft (years back) was a standard maple shaft, but after that I believe Lucasi transition to Hybrid shafts completely. They do have different shafts. Few weeks back I was tempted to buy one and the shaft on that had the LH, but the circle indicating radial construction was not on it .. so I stepped back. All my Lucasi cues and shafts have the 'LH'. If you bought it from a store like Seyberts or Pool Dawg or another reputed online store, then can sort it out for you.

[edit] - ignore my question, I see you raised another post where you have mentioned LC.

After careful review and play - The Lucasj LC Slim Pro shaft is MONEY!

The pro tapered profile and balance is “sexy” and feels like a saber like weapon. I can see my shot line much better with the 11.75mm diameter - The feeling is like getting glued onto a pocket. This is definitely a game improvement to make more runs possible. If you want to up your game, get the tools that will get you there! ☮️
