Has any one used the Mace jump/break cue by rick howard? If so on did it compare as a break cue vs say a Predator or Sledgehammer? Thanks

Rick makes a fine break/jump cue, Id recommend one to anyone. See if Rick will give you some private lessons on how to use it. btw he plays good too

tony.....having been priveledged enough to be able to use and hit balls with all of the cues you have mentioned.....let me say that first they are all quality cues........now let me address a few points that may be of interest to you .....the sledgehammer while being a excellent jump/break is just that and nothing more....i have had several in my hands and didnt find them to be very consistent in what they are made for ,some jumped good and some broke well.....but never did i get both in one cue......next the predator.....i feel that it is a farce as all of the other predator cues.......it is nothing special......all they did was shorten the taper a small amount so as to stiffen or give more rigidity to the shaft.......now to the mace ,which i think is the best of the group.....first it is a good playing cue.....with rick being a player i feel he put alot into this cue as far as function goes........with a slightly hard tip you can break'em,and jump and play with it.....no other cue is more consistent in my opinion as rick gave thought in where to weight and balance....and even the taper of the butts shows this as the butt is maginally thicker and at the joint the cue is somewhat thin as to show that he naturally weighted the cue before the addition of the bolt......so when the cue is aprt to jump the weight is where it belongs in the but handle section....so to answer your question .....i dont think you could go wrong what-so-ever in going with the mace jump break.......take care......juston coleman

ok so were can i get a mace cue from?? I hear a lot about them that sound like something i'm lookig for.?????

I can honestly say that I have tried only two of the three mentioned. Out of the two that I tried, the Predator and the Sledgehammer, I feel the sledgehammer is hands down the best one. It hits a ton. The Predator seemed to weak for me. Now about the Mace, when I was in the market for a break/jump cue it was between the Mace and the Sledgehammer, the only reason I went with the later is because I saw it on Ebay cheap and I jumped on it. I have heard nothing but great things about the Mace so I am assuming that you cant go wrong with it. Rick Howard is a great player so he knows what makes a good cue. It is also reasonably priced. I also want to point out that people neglect to remember that the Sledgehammer is made by Mike Gulyassy (sp) who is also a former champion who if Im not mistaken played in the Mosconi Cup a long time ago, so he also knows what it takes to make a good cue.

Ohhh I also want to mention that you may want to consider Pete Ohman's grey ghost break cue. I hear from people that they also hit a ton.

I broke a few with it at VF, it was great. I had just bought a Sledgehammer (250.00 at the show) a few hours before so I couldn't buy one, but it sure did break great. BTW, his cue brand is Omen, a take off on his name I guess.
