Years ago Rob replaced a vial in my Starrett 98-12 and it came out perfect. He even gave me choices of colors, and met me in a parking lot to finalize the deal while I was working in Iowa.

Rob, Your Lufkin Machinist Level really threw me. I've dealt with Lufkin on and off since 1976, that's not long enough ago that they weren't part of Cooper Group.

I never knew they made Precision Measuring Tools. You forced me to do some research. 1955 is the earliest catalog I can find Lufkin Machinist Levels. https://archive.org/details/LufkinPrecisionToolsCatalogNo8/page/n83/mode/2up

I'm wondering 2 things.
When did they quit Precision Tools?
Did they sell their designs/Patents? If so, who?

I’m not sure if they produce the precision tools anymore or not.. although I’ve seen some Pratt & Whitney machinist levels with the same frame as the lufkin no.58 so I don’t know who’s reading who’s mail.. the Pratt & Whitney level was produced by Colt industries…the same Colt industries that manufacture firearms.
