Magic Eraser- Can it Damage Your Cue?

cueman said:
It does clean pretty good but raises the grain so much that it is a pain to get the shaft back smooth. Bad part is the grain seems to reraise itself after smoothing up and waxing the shaft. What ever chemical is in it stays in the shaft and reacts negatively with sealer and wax. It cleans a wrap really good also but causes the wrap to really fuzz up.

Chris,
Give it a try with denatured instead of water. You can get it wetter and the grain raises a lot less. Magic Eraser does not have a cleaning agent in it. Give it a good rinsing with denatured after cleaning the shaft.

I went out and bought a box of these things tonight after reading some of the posts here last week. The thing worked great. I can't believe how well it worked, actually. Afterward, as LastTwo mentioned, the grain was fairly raised. I took an ordinary paper towel, folded it up so it was thicker, and sort of burnished the shaft with it. After that I took some *used* 1500 grit sandpaper just to smooth it out a little more. The shaft looks awesome now. I hope these things aren't bad for cues because I plan on using them from time to time after tonight's results.

I jumped on the wagon about 6 months ago. I use it every month or so. I really like it. I wet the eraser and dry it inside a towel. I then clean the shaft with it. Afterwards I rub my shaft vigorously with a dry wash cloth. I then burnish with a paper towel.
