Making a cue lighter?

Gentlemen, I have a Predator P3. With all weight bolts removed, I would still like it to be a bit lighter. Is it possible to remove (by drilling out) more wood from the butt? Certainly not something I want to attempt and so, if it IS possible, who or where could I contact for such a job? Would like to get it down to around 17 oz. or so. Thank you.

What is the weight of the cue now, without the weight bolts?

Why would you need a 17oz cue?
Production cues are made so they start around the 18oz range, and you can go up to about 21oz with weight bolts.
That`s fine for most folks. If you want a lighter cue, sell your Predator and have a cuemaker make you a 17oz cue.
Most of all, I would just recomend you play more with the cue you got,..

I posted this in your other thread:

Don't do it. Do you have any idea how much wood would have to be bored out to lighten a cue 1 to 2 ounces? As a cue maker I can tell you, a lot! The only place you can bore out a finished cue is at the butt end. Once that is done, you've affected the structural integrity of the cue by hollowing it out, you've changed the balance point, and the hit and sound would likely also change.

Plus, should you choose to sell it, you're not going to get the weight bolt back in without plugging, boring, and tapping the correct threads for the weight bolt. And to top it all off, you've also voided your warrantee.

For what you paid for that Predator, you can probably get with a cue maker and start from the ground up on a cue made to your preferences.
