Making cue longer

I have no idea if this is possible but figured I'd ask, right now I have a custom cue with a linen wrap, is it doable to make the cue an inch or two inches longer? I already have the option to add the QR extension in the butt, as you can probably guess I've never built a pool cue but I assume a wrapped cue is like a few parts put together, a forearm, the handle section and the bottom section, my thinking was take the handle and bottom apart and make the handle an inch or two longer, tell me if I'm totally crazy or not 🤣

Complete handle replacements have been done, so, no you aren't crazy. You are spot on with the construction (there is a lot more to it than what you wrote, but for the purposes of this conversation, it'll do).

The biggest question is whether it is really worth it. If the cue is not warped, I expect you'll see a room full of guys with their hands in their pockets if you ask for volunteers. If the cue is very valuable and the maker is alive, there is even more reason to abstain. If the cue isn't horribly valuable, you will likely have almost as much into the project as buying another cue.

What you are talking about is having someone do something that is most of the risk of building a cue without the fun of designing it.

Maybe others will disagree with me, I hope they do, it is new years day and I'd hate to spoil a dream.

It's pretty simple to replace the handle on a wrapped cue. I've done it many times. There are factors to consider though, adding an extension is often going to be a better option.
Another factor to consider is that you might have a hard time getting the cue into a normal case.
The cost of a new handle and (linen) wrap vs a custom extension should be close to the same price if you aren't being gouged.

The cue isn't warped, and unfortunately the cuemaker has passed away, I was just curious if it was doable or even sane to try it.. and I suppose you haven't ever been to my pool room where everyone has fish hooks in their pockets, I just think it's a beautiful cue and I don't ever want to get rid of it, I buy others and always go back to this one, just wanted another inch or two out of it to have a 30/30

Sheldon is a well established maker, I'd have no reason to doubt that his information is better than mine. Definitely for him, maybe not so much for me, variety makes this world fun.

FTR, I am on your side on this. If you would like the cue longer, go for it. You are paying more respect to the maker by liking the cue and slightly modifying it to keep it around.

What about getting an extension between the shaft and the butt

Get a mid cue extension.

I am currently building a 33"-inch cue for a customer. Our approach on the project is going to be second joint at the end of the handle. So, the cue will come apart at 29" at the end of the wrap. When put together it will look seamless, and he will be able to fit the cue in his case. I think this is a good solution for those guys who leave their extensions on full time. On a conventional cue he would grab the cue at the butt cap which negated having a wrap. In our build he will still be able to grip on the leather wrap. If you ever want to custom build a cue, don't limit yourself to conventional sizes. With a little creativity you can build something that will work without compromise. You just need to find a builder that is willing to work outside the box.

The last CF shaft I bought was a good two inches longer than standard, so you could get that with just a shaft change...

It may take a little time which is of course is money. It may cost more than you want to throw at it to make it happen but not anything that any decent cue maker couldn't do. If it's done under the wrap you won't need any finish work and you'll have a bit of forgiveness in the taper. You will need someone who can blend a few thousands taper difference in to where it is not noticeable.. "a wood worker" if you will. Once the new wrap is on it should be just what you wanted.

I have a Tiger sneaky radial pin plays great ,i would like to know if i can get a snooker cue shaft built for it 10mm tip.
