Making my own Cue Cases!

Okay, I have decided I want to start making my own cue cases. I need to know where I can get some components. I knwo where to get my outside materials, leather, vinyl, etc. BUt what do I use for the inside of the case and where can I get it? I am referring to the tubes for the case and the shafts. Please let me know any info you may have or point me in the right direction. Thanks, Damon.
 
What kind of trade are you in now, and what made you decide to start making cases?

the older cases have basic pvc tubes but you have to find the thin walled (schedual 20). they used to use thin pvc for irrigation but its hard to find now...the good thing is that ace hardware still carries schedual 20. call me and ill answer all your questions that i can

Cases

I decided to get into this because its one more thing I want to do in the pool world. Along with eventually building my first cue, I also want to build my own cases. I have been looking for something different here lately and as I hav ebeen browsing for weeks on in, I see the same thing all over the place. Same case designs, same pocket locations same straps. They all look the same to me, except for the design in the leather, why not change up the whole case? Thats what I want to do, make something different for a change. I just need to know where to get the guts and I can start building and experimenting.

Some questions I've had...

1) For bdr: Do you get your materials from a supplier that you would be willing to divulge in a PM?

2) What material would you use for the body of the case itself, and what adhesion method would be used to attach, say, leather to it?

The reason you see so much similarity is because this is what works on a practical level and also because people tend to emulate what came before them. Once you get going you will find that most people want looks followed closely by ease of use. They will sacrifice a little for looks but not much.

Anyway, the tubes you can find in the hardware store, electrical tubes for the shafts and plumbing tubes for the butts. Leather suppliers and lots of great advice about how to do anything in leather can be found here www.leatherworker.net Hardware can be obtained from www.ohiotravelbag.com among others.

You can also build a case around anything, you can use just leather for the walls, there are tons of ways to do it. It's not rocket science but there is quite a difference between just a container made to hold cues and something built to last a long time that truly protects the cue.

Good luck. There are several new and still unknown case makers I know of who should be coming out with stuff soon. It should be very interesting to see what they come up with.

This is a tread I wanted to star,for some years,but "NEVER HAD THE COJONES TO DO IT'Some yerars ago I made a case semless,in the middle,western style, two weeks later,Creative Inventios, have a boot maker do the case,I think Chris Tate said, he made like 300 cases , I'm coming with a new case this time will be with sof rings in the insert..thas way a 'm madman

You aren't the only one that Porper copied. It's funny that the people who do the inventing don't get the credit.

Bob Meucci claims he invented the foam core style case and Porper appropriated it. Porper also copied my signature scallop design that is Instroke's flagship design.

I have at least ten new ways to put cases together and most of them won't get out the prototype stage.

It's a beauty contest anyway, just make it look pretty and no one cares how it's put together or how well it really protects or even how easy it is to use. Well, that's not entirely true, let's just say most people don't care... they just want good looks.
 
I guess I will just have to do some experimenting. I pretty much have in mind what my first two or three will be. I just hope I can get past the things I dont know much about. Which would be Stitchings, and interior, hope it all comes out right. Like I said, I will just have to try it over and over again till its perfect.
