Did not see a topic about this. It has been on all week with free live streaming on Youtube --> https://www.youtube.com/live/sIG83CQ0AjE?feature=share

The vietnamese player Luong Duc Thien is facing Little Ko in the semi finals right now. Also, the vietnam billiards promotion channel has the live stream going with 11K people watchign right. Thats a hell of a number.

No commentary team at all.

Spoiler for Chang Jung Lin vs Filler

Game 1: Chang hits the 10 in and pulls balls out the pocket before cue ball comes to a complete stop. They call a foul on him. He seems to pack up his cues and concede the match? After a delay the 10 gets spotted and Filler gets ball in hand, putting him up 1-0. They play out the match. Chang ends up losing hill hill 7-8, gotta hurt. Filler ecstatically celebrating seemed pretty funny given those circumstances

Yes, crazy foul (the ball he took out wasn't near the cue ball or pocketed OB and it stayed in his hand).

should such a foul really be called? Seems very ticky tack

i think it's a rule in both the current 9-ball and 10-ball tour, but not sure. you'll see the players hovering with the hand above the pocket until cueball has stopped sometimes. it looked to me like chang held the ball above the cloth, along the rail, waiting for cb, but still got docked the rack. so rule must be don't remove balls at all until cb stops

Nuther dumb fix to an imaginary problem.

I have no problem with the ref calling that foul. If it's technically a foul, then it's the ref's job to call the foul. No room for grey area when there is a ref involved.

Though, there is a question of sportsmanship regarding Filler once he gets ball in hand. Filler is not obligated to give the shot back to Chang, but IMO it would have shown great sportsmanship if he did. Because technicalities aside, Chang did win that rack.

Here is video of the shot and Chang's reaction...

Now that I saw Chang's reaction, then I take back what I said about sportsmanship above. I wouldn't have given the shot back to him. If instead Chang accepted the call and immediately sat back in his chair, then I that's a different story.

eah... there was no actual conflict, the call was premature and incorrect. The rule(s) should be revised to reflect that. I would condone anyone's display of contempt over the ruling. What Filler did or did not do in response is not relevant.

Of course what Filler does in response is irrelevant on whether a foul technically occurred or not.

But given your opinion that the call is incorrect, if you were Filler would you have given the shot back to Chang?

No and this brings up another point. Un-sportsmanship. Returning the inning would be in contempt of the ref. The only Bro thing to do would have been Filler walking as well. Rid or actually rediculous. Say the two had been playing privately for their kind of cash, do you think that rule would have come into play?
Like I said earlier, nuther dumb fix to an imaginary problem.

I started watching around the third rack and wasn't aware of the incident. Chang did seem to be playing slowly; the commentators speculated he was trying to slow Filler down, or possibly he was still pissed at the ref too. Tense match regardless, some good tactical 10 ball played.

Chang foul is ridiculous.

No more pulling balls out of drop pockets as a pro. Let the ref do it.

Ko played great in an exciting final. Sets like thst are a great argument for alternating break formats.

A foul is touching the cue ball while still in motion. Unless they created that rule for that tournament.
