Maple vs Purpleheart handle

After a couple of years of repair work, I'm gonna jump into my first 3 piece butt. Nothing fancy, just BE maple top and bottom. My question has to deal with the handle. How much of a weight difference can I expect by using a purpleheart handle vs. a maple handle. thanks..

While we're on the subject of weight and handle wood, can anyone give me a rough idea of what the difference between maple and ebony would be?

Thanks!

A LOT.....

Seriously, if you see an ebony-handled cue, it's probably a long cored sleeve with a maple dowel inside. Ebony is too heavy.

Maple = 39 lbs. cubic foot. Gabon Ebony = 65 - 69 lbs. cubic foot.

Approximately 2 plus ounces. I did one a long time ago but variables have to be considered unless your coring, different splices for different woods. I think using the purple heart for a handle now that I think more of it, only changed .5 to 1. ounce. It was a while ago.

I've been using purpleheart as handle wood now for a while and it's great.

Because I never use weight screws in my cues, purpleheart is an ideal option to get cues to the natural weight of 19/21 ounces.

Besides that, it's stable, cheap and very stiff, glues well. It is perfect wood to use when talking about handle/forearm joining.

With BE maple forearm and butt sleeve, purpleheart as a handle could produce a cue with a natural weight of around 19.5/20 ounces...

Ebony is not very stable as handle wood but could be used when cored... The natural weight of a BE maple cue (forearm and buttsleeve) with a full ebony handle would be about 20/20.5 ounces and about 19.5/20 ounces when coring the handle...

That's exactly what I hope to achieve. Thanks for the input.
