FYI, I just posted a video with a collection of 20 One Pocket Puzzles for practice and entertainment. Check it out:
Inspired by the incredible runout from Evan Lunda at the Finals of the 2024 US Open One Pocket, I came up with 20 One Pocket positions designed to steal the game from your opponent.
It's called "Mate in Three", like the famous chess problems — because One Pocket is just chess on a pool table.
In most scenarios, the score is 7-5. Your opponent is on the hill, and you need all three remaining balls. Can you find an offensive way to run out?
Every position starts with a WWYD layout. Your pocket is marked with an X.
You're welcome to pause the video, think of your own solution, or set up the position on your table.
After that, you'll see my take.
I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.
Have fun, and see you at the tables!
