Maybe carbon fiber shafts arent so expensive.

Sent in my cue to Viking for a new vpro shaft-msrp $139. Sounds cheap right? By the time I was done it cost me $285 plus shipping to Viking. So $300. maybe cfs aren’t so bad price wise. Get what you like. Another $100 gets me cfs that’s probably not gonna warp. And I’d probably have a hell of a time breaking it over my knee. Well worth the extra cash.

Postage is cheaper then walking cross country, and back. Plus faster.

Carbon can be worth it. They definitely generate a lot of power, play consistent regardless of environmental factors and are very easy to maintain. Once my mezz came with a 30 inch sigma wood shaft my CF revo has been collecting dust. Touchy shots are a lot easier with the wood shaft and I really like the crisp sound of the wood shaft. If I was going to bars and league games all the time the extra durability of the CF makes a lot of sense. Since I play solely at home at this time I am preferring the benefits of good wood at the moment.

How did $139 turn into $285? I mean $5 worth of chalk wound up costing me $1000 so I understand cost overruns but I'd like to see the play by play.

In my case, the store had 50% off wooden performance shafts with the purchase of a cue so I got a cue ($300) and a 314 ($150) and chalk ($5). Then I decided that the 314 wasn't the shaft for me and bought a Viking Siege ($500). Add in sales tax and I'm over $1000. I do like the Siege, though.

So I think the question is does the dollar go as far as it used to?

$500 dollars to me is a lot of U.S bank notes to purchase a cue shaft.

Then we pay shipping and tax = busted.

You know they always get you one way or another. You could go the $299 route on Amazon though. I don’t like cfs but seems a lot of people do.

Think Cues are like Rifles, most Can play great in great player hands.

Indian, not Arrow. But advertising, hype, and pro player endorsement sell stuff. Stuff you may not need, but desire to have.

Golfers are same way know next great $700.00 will make them a Tiger, or Arnold.

Yes, that is true.

When I was a teenager I purchased a T.S cue for $160 COD.

Today that same cue is $1200

So my question, is what we are buying (carbon shafts and import materials) worth what we are paying.

I am not seeing a value

Bet its worth WAY more than 1200 today. CF shafts bring what they do because of demand. Pure and simple. Room i play in is full of them.

Well I am not personally jumping on CF Shaft, for several reasons.

One my Cue the way it came with Maple shaft is potentially better then I am capable of using it to full potential.

I am inconsistent recreational player, not world class pro, wanting to move my game up a notch where CF might help.

I think many people on this forum are in their minds world class players.🐂💩. In reality they are far from that.

Even your local short stops can not run consistent with the Top Pros, if they could they would be on Pro circuit.

If you want to know how great you are at something, compete with someone way stronger then you at sport. You might get ass kicked, stay close, or find out you need to turn professional, by kicking their behind.

Thank corporate Pool equipment pump for hype their latest, great shaft, tip tool, or gizmo to desperate your from your money.

About the only thing recently that I found that was new, and great was V-10 Chalk. No 🐂💩, just a better mouse trap.😂

I think by now EVERYONE on this forum knows that a new shaft won't make you play better. CF's main benefits are its SUPER slick finish, durability(light yrs better than wood unless abused like a drunk baggage handler) and somewhat better power(really varies from model to model). They are the hot thing right now and almost everyone who i know that has one loves it. I'm still using a Mezz wood shaft(with a cf rod on the inside) and will probably stay with it because i'm so used to it. You don't have to be a WC player to enjoy using one.

If you do you full of s💩.

CF is latest gimmick, use to be Predator or OB shafts.

Corporation advertise stuff to make money some actually works.

I’m neither for or against CF shafts, but you have to be blind not to see it’s only a matter of time before this “gimmick“ dominates the cue shaft industry. Have you tried to buy a wooden tennis racket recently, or a set of “wooden” golf “clubs? I guess there may still be a few players of both sports still kicking and screaming that CF is a gimmick!

those industries are not as much a bout feel. there is a difference between hitting a golf ball or hitting a tennis ball vs hitting a cue ball. to me CF just was not that impressive ..
Not that impressive or too expensive for ya lol

With a CF shaft, I do not need a glove, do not need sandpaper, do not need powder and the shaft never gets banged up. Just a bit of alcohol glass wipe once a month keeps it clean. I'm all for it. Have three from Ned Morris Evolution shafts and one REVO.

Pool has not evolved much, Predator shaft were hot, the OB shafts were hot, now CF is hit.

Like I said my Cue has Maple shaft, great for this recreational player.

Spend your 💰 how you please, I have things more important to me than CF Shaft.

I have no problem with People using what ever they like. It's been what.. 7 or 8 years ago since this type of shaft was introduced in the pool world, what has really changed, other than more pros using them. And the companies making the shafts, seem to be more dominant than ever. Are they really worth the $400 to $500 plus? I remember in the early 2000s the first pie spliced shafts came out, with the carbon inside, where all the rage.
Players didn't stop using the solid ones. As a young kid. I didn't see what all the fuss was about. My hero's like reyes, bustamante, archer, luat they never touched em. So I never bothered to try it. And even back then, the price was very steep.for a new one, around $250 I think. I believe a lot of it, is in the mind. All we talking about here, is deflection at the end of the day. And no matter what you use or have used.its all about what you get use too. If you play with a shaft, for long enough, CF or wood or combination of the two. After a while, with enough practice, you will be able to do anything with that thing. A decent tip, half decent shaft. Is all you need. Way to much focus is put on equipment nowadays I think.
