McDaniels, proprietary pin?

Recently picked up a McDaniels Mac Attack, 5/16x14

Ive noticed that the shaft on this cue will fit all of my other 5/16x14 cues, but shafts from my Predator and Joss cues will nit fit on the McDaniels butt.

They tighten down to about 1/4" from seated and then hit a brick wall, not just a little tight.

cant get calipers down on it to measure but looks like the last few threads are a little wider, but same pitch.

I guess you could open/tap the first couple threads on a regular shaft to get it seated.

Anyone ran into this before?

Yes. They are all 5/16-14 but the McDaniel threads are narrower. So eventually your other inserts on the no -McDaniel shafts tighten down along length of the pin.

The later McDaniel cues for J and J use this non standard pin and insert set.
