This stick is great fun. I am using a McDermott maple shaft to shoot with and it plays very well. Does anyone know who Balicini was and why they wanted McDermott to build a graphite stick for them?

they were a company that was in partnership with mcdermott.. .. they were a special composite carbon fibre.. they were real popular in my area...

the one pool hall used to have the limited editions that were specially weighted and balanced and numbered.. but they ended up stopping production on them..

they were guarenteed to never warp.. they actually recomended if you like leaving them in a car your could...

below is a blue book entry on them..
Pool cues manufactured by McDermott Cue Manufacturing Inc. and distributed by Balicini Marketing Group from 1994 to 1995 in Atlanta, Georgia, and later distributed by McDermott Cue Manufacturing Inc.
The Balicini cue was a joint effort between the Balicini Marketing Group and McDermott Cue Mfg. Inc. McDermott manufactured the cues and Balicini marketed and distributed them. The idea was to produce a good playing cue for people who wanted something more durable than wood. Made almost entirely of carbon fiber, the Balicini cue was almost indestructible, even in the hands of the most abusive players. Early cues had a finish over the shaft which required a glove for comfortable play. This was later solved by sanding the shafts smooth and not applying a finish.
Production was stopped in 1995, but then resumed for a time in the late 1990s. McDermott honors the warranties on Balicini cues. If you have a Balicini cue that needs repair, contact McDermott Cue Mfg. Inc., which is listed in the Trademark Index.

Jayme @ McDermott says they have no way to refinish a Balicini. It needs a bumper so I guess I will take it to Bob Owens at Shurtz Cues and have him look at it.

WOW, I have not seen one of them in years!!!!! I think Chrisonline hit the nail on the head with your info. I also hung out at the same pool hall as Chris and remember the limited edition ones as they looked wild but, it just was not my cup of tea as I like the feel of wood. They are cool looking cues though. Enjoy it.
