I thought I got a steal on a C4 on Ebay for $99. The butt needs a refinish but is straight as a narrow. The shaft is original and has some lift and looks like it has been sanded down over the years to 11mm. I have tried to sell this cue back on the forums but no luck due to refinish and new shaft costs.
McDermott offers a complete refinish including a new wrap and new shaft with matching collars for $ 250 MSRP. The only problems with this is I am probably exceeding the cues value dumping this much into it. Does anyone have an additional suggestions or should I just hang on to the cue or sell back on Ebay? The wrap is in good shape but that original nylon which feels scratchy to me. If I kelp it for a player I would have to change that out but not sure if that would hurt resale value? I have several offers for aftermarket shafts from sellers on AZ (Varney LD, OB1, etc) for $90 but not sure if they would fit off the shelf so would need someone to fit them to the cue and match collars so not sure if I would gain anything there. I could care less if I use an LD or maple shaft.
I live in NW indiana but travel throughout Indiana, Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska for my job so could drop off cue to any shops in those areas if it would help to see it.
