McDermott i1: For playing, not just breaking?

Long story short...

I've got a Players butt (flat faced 5/16x18) that I really like, but I'm not a huge fan of the standard Players shaft. The tip is dead and the ferrule is a bit damaged, so instead of bothering with replacing those bits, I'm looking for a replacement shaft to turn that cue into a more suitable every day player...

I prefer a full 13mm tip, a moderately strong taper, and a weight around 4oz. -- and I've always played with conventional shafts, no technology usually.

So my question is....

Does anyone have any experience using a McDermott i1 for standard play? Also, how 'techy' does an i1 really feel? In spite of it's tech marketing, the reasons I'm thinking about a shaft like this are 1) it's 13mm, 2) it's got a stronger than usual taper for a production shaft, 3) there are always some for sale used.

Really, I'm just curious more than anything, so thanks in advance for the input!
