McDermott shaft

Just finished doing a little re-conditioning on a McDermott shaft.
After sanding shaft nice and smooth I re-burnished tip and reshaped as
it was improperly shaped. After adding a lil mouth lube. I see a couple lines
in the ferrule. Aproximately, 1\4 down from tip (Keep in mind nothing has
touched ferrule except 600 and 800 paper)

2 perfectly straight lines about an 1\8 of inch apart. Hit is with some 400
then 600,and 800 again. still there. Used a lil tooth paste and brush, still
there.

My only conclusion it appeared to be a white pad in between a 2 piece ferrule
and must have been sealed when I sanded ferrule it came off and left the glue lines.

Anyone else seen anything of the likes ? This was on a standard length
ferrule, Not one of the new HP shafts they offer.
