I've got an 8' Kasson table with a few rails that have dried out (hard as rock) after 6 years of play. I'm looking to replace the rails and cover the table with some faster cloth (probably Simonis 860).
I've gathered from this forum that Simonis isn't the easiest cloth to install properly, so wanted to see if anybody had opinions or recommendations about mechanics in the Austin area.
The only places I'm familiar with and have gotten quotes from are Austin Billiards and A-Tex, so opinions on them would suffice if anybody is familiar with them.
My last option would be buying the supplies myself and having a buddy help install it (used to install/repair tables at Gameroom Designs before they went out of business), but I think I'd rather spend a little more money to have it done right
Any other random suggestions are appreciated: one question would be whether I could get the rails cut or shimmed to tighten the pockets a bit. The leather pockets themselves are 4" and 5" (corner/side), and the mouths of the pockets are 5" and 5.5", which seems a bit wide.
