Men's Florida pro Tour

Looks like the tour got off to a pretty successful start in Capone's this weekend. I think they had 51 players. Rocky even sold all his spectator seats at $20 a pop. So it appears that there are people who will pay to watch some good pool. Was surprised to see Charlie Williams there. Wouldn't think that he would play in a non-sanctioned event. I guess that only applies to the other members of the UPA. I did hear some grumbling about the winner break format. That just gives too much of an edge to the better players. And if they expect the weaker players to continue paying the $150 entrance fee they should at least give them a chance of playing and go to the alternate breaks format. good to see them put the names above the tables. I hope that John DiToro will think about creating a program of the players with their picture and a short bio. But all in all it seemed like a well run event. Jake

Jake,
It was indeed a well run event. I didn't think to look for you there but I was there for both days. Tough luck for Rodney. It was quite a contrast watching him and the jack-in-the box playing.

It is no surprise to see CW playing. The new contract recognizes the players' right to make a living by playing in non-sanctioned events. It only restricts their playing in events that "conflict" with sanctioned events.

Hi Ken,

I didn't get there until 2pm saturday and we left at 6:30pm. We had end seats right above table 1. Saw Rodney playing on table 4 and I doubt if his opponent got 6 turns at the table. That was boring so I spent more time watching Buddy Hall and Dan ? on table 1. That wasn't that interesting either but I could see that table better. Jake

I had a job fail an Inspection on Thursday @ 1pm. So I had to spend the 4th, 5th, & 6th fixing someone elses problem :(

On the bright side for me, I made more than the tournament paid. All who attended that I have spoken to had a good time.

I will play the next one even if h*** freezes over.....
