Looking for anyone out there that has one of these cues and their opinion. I'm thinking about ordering one to try out.

thanks, JED

It depends on who you want to listen to and influences you the most...Meucci bashers, or those that have one and know. (along with someone that knows how to use the cue). So...take your choice. I fit the latter. Therefore, buy it...you won't be disappointed in either a power piston or a Metallic. End of thread.

Meucci's have a very "soft" hit, so unless you know thats what you want I suggest hitting with one before you buy.

I believe the Power Pistons are made in the same fashion as the shafts, with horizontal splices at certain points.

The Metallic Series isn't soft. Besides, it still depends on what kind of tip is on the cue, even with a power piston. If you put Hercules hard or Talisman hard to extra hard, the hit won't be soft.

I have four Meuccis now....each with a different tip...none are Power Pistons or with black dots (they are old ones--all with wood butts). The hit varies with the tips I use.

I know my old Meucci cues probably play better, but I wanted to try a new one model just to see.

thanks....JED

The old ones were great, the new ones still play damn good...no problem.
I'm not a big fan of the black dot shaft. it's laminated still, but something about it turns me off.maybe the way it hits.

I've only played with a red dot shaft and it played fine. My only experience with new tech shafts is the 314....I have one of those and in MY OPINION it's over rated. I put it (314) on a Viking cue and couldn't tell much difference from the stock shaft. I'm sure the black dot will have the same result...but I have to try it.

Oh come on, they suck compared to the older models. Admit it! Do it! J/K

I am sure that they are fine cues. :p

OK..I will admit it, the older ones were better. However, they're still quite a decent shooting cue. As JAM said in a post yesterday, you can really "whip" the ball in with a Meucci. It's very true. For whatever reason, you can just aim that CB almost dead center to the OB on cut shots with a bunch of english and just spin or throw the piss out of the OB right into the pocket at any speed.

It sounds like what you're talking about is guesstimating the amount of squirt that will happen. You can do that with any cue.

Well there is some squirt, but there's also a TON of spin. Go buy a NEW Power Piston and you'll see the difference between it and your other cues.

I don't like the hit of my power piston at all, It was merely ok with the red dot shaft but when I screwed the black dot on and hit, it felt like I was stroking with a graphite cue, really stiff uncomfortable hit. So I packed that sucker up and traded it away.
