Might want to post this in "Ask a Cuemaker" section as well.Hi people,
I have owned quite a few mezz cues and I am loving the finish when shafts are new. Does anybody know how to achieve this finish? I have access to a lathe.
Thanks in advance

Hi thanks for you answer.Sherwin Williams sanding sealer, put it on after final sanding.
Eiither take most of it off with very fine steel wool, or very fine sandpaper, leaving some of the finish behind.
Forget the waxes on the shafts.
After that, keep your hands clean, and rub the shaft good, get those hand oils on the surface to further seal it.
All the best,
WW
Hi thanks for you answer.
Which one is the best?
I found 2 or 3 types. The classic Fastdry? the Lacquer? or high bild?
Thanks a lot again
For that matter, I've had no problem with Q Slick and then the Q papers afterwards, rather than sanding sealer,
Hi the wax is ok I still use to time to time. You were going to post a feedback after trying the guitar wax.
Did you try it yet?
Also, any of the Minwax, Enduro or Old Masters sanding sealers will do just fine too.
If you want to try the sanding sealers.
However, you didn't ask for that. You stated you wanted the finish to be like the new Mezz shaft finishes.
Not sure how to do that but I'm almost 100% sure they did not use a guitar polish or any sanding sealer.
^^^ That's the ticket. Best there is ^^^This is what I use...... Makes shafts very slick.... Gerlitz No.1 Carnauba Guitar Wax . Be sure to clean the shaft before applying...
