MICARTA Question (can i color dye micarta?)

i would like to color the micarta joint material.
my thinking is a water based black color dye giving me a dark charcoal grey/black result.
has anyone tried to color micarta?
 
RIT dye.

Normally they boil polymer with RIT dye.

Not sure if you can do it w/o boiling.

You can get black linen micarta & not have to dye it, it's what my ferrules are made of.

here's where i'm up to...
spent some time with steve klapp on telephone (he's building my cue).
we spoke of delrin, ivory, juma and micarta.
i'm going to have micarta ferrules and juma butt cap, and you can bet he took time to help me understand things.
i really like working with him :wink:
