Any players interested in playing in a qualifier for this tournament, please go to the "Tournament Announcements" section to find out more.

Chris, thanks for providing the info. That's a great opportunity for any pool player who desires to play in this million-dollar tournament based on 500-plus players in Vegas this coming December that requires a $10,000 entry fee.

I have not been hearing too much hype about this tournament to be held in Las Vegas. Do you have any new particulars about it? I am curious as to how many players have signed up so far and paid their entry fee and are deemed as confirmed. Actually, I would like to know if there is any new news. I would think that an event with this kind of payout would be in all the media headlines, both pool-related and non-pool-related media, but where does one go to find out more?

Listen to what the Man says...

And, by the way- who's ready to start picking the winner? Efren? Pagulayan? Earl!!? Perhaps one of the Europeans??

I agree w/ Manly- there has been very little mention of this tourney. Sounds like a pretty good 1st prize!
How about video (BCN? PPV?) coverage? Should be some racks run.

I can't wait though I will,

you haven't been hearing anything because there's nothing to hear. how many players do you think can, or are willing to pony up $10,000?

it says win two matches and you're in the money....is that win two matches and you break even, or win two matches and you don't lose all $10,000 of your entry fee? it shows that at least 128th gets you $11,000. so does that mean 384 players are out $10,000?

this would be a good payday for 1-32, but that's only if they fill the field. what happens if there are only 100 entries? so now, the payouts will change,,,,so where do they have to place to get back their $10,000 in that scenario.

sounds like a deal to me. how this tournament fills up will be very interesting.

Thanks for the info.

This is a bar table 9-Ball single-elimination tournament and a race to 21.

I hadn't known it was on bar tables. That's a first, a million-dollar tournament on a bar box.

They have a sponsors/association link, and there is only one listing, Diamond Tables.

I sure would like to see the "confirmed" players listing.

How many tournaments do you go to and say "Man.....I sure hope I don't lose!" I know I don't say that. Besides, it's on a bar table. Anybody that is willing to bet, they can pick their horse and I'll take the rest of the field. The best player does not have to ever win this tournament with a big field. The qualifying tournaments are only $100.00 entry fee. Not bad for a shot at $1,000,000.00. I will be hosting one in Houston on Nov. 15-16th. The money for the million is already posted in Ceasar's Palace. If anyone wants to confirm this they can call and ask for "Sales and Convention" and they will verify. No matter how many players are in the finals.....1st place will pay 1 million.

the top pros won't be thinking about losing, but the rest will be playing not to lose. :) $10,000 is $10,000.

and even with bar tables, race to 21 favors the better player. i don't know how easy it is to run a rack. it must be pretty easy for them to have a race to 21.

Do you smell smoke? Sorry, Maybe it was just the thought of this "Hindenburg" tournament dream someone has.

i don't know if it's all smoke but,,, the promoters have overhead + they guarantee $x,xxx, xxx. and if they fall short of their needed entries, someone's going to be hurtin'. i guess we'll all see in two plus months.

People like you is what is wrong with pool today! I guess you don't want to see the sport grow with all of the negativity that you feel. Someone finally proves that there is money to be made and then you think they are blowing smoke. On Dec. 7th, you'll hear that so and so won that cool million.

I got a call yesterday from the main promoters from Right Action Management. They are planning on attending the Midwest Expo/Open. They will have a booth where you can pick up information and will be on hand to answer any and all questions you have regarding their event.

Hmmmmm, 512 players ? I wonder if the coin tables will be 'open'. Races to 21 on $1.00 coin tables can start to add up to MONEY. $21 to $41 per match with hundreds of players is a considerable amount. For $10,000 you shouldn't have to feed the tables TOO.... imo
Anyone have the answer ? Also;
"Win two matches and your in the money", should read, "Win two matches and you're in the money."

No way they will make the players in this tourney use coin-op feature...

what's wrong with pool are "those" involved. there are many many people who gave a love/hate relationship with the game. who love the game and its beauty, but not the ugliness surrounding it. pool only has itself to blame.

Is the UPA one of "those" involved?

How is barring pool players from competing in tournaments helpful to pool in general?

Why do they allow some pool players to compete without becoming members, the "non-touring pros," and others are FORCED to join or be BARRED from competing? Is this DISCRIMINATION?

The UPA has categorized pool players: "NON-TOURING PRO" and "TOURING PRO."

Jake, should pool magazines and others take the UPA ranking system seriously? What about Earl Strickland and other pool players, the pool players UPA deems as "touring pros"? Earl Strickland is not the only pool player to be affected here.

Again, the UPA has targeted pool players, like the independent event promoters of Big Apple and Capital City Classic, instead of reaching outside of the industry.

At Big Apple tournament, UPA handed out written documents for pool players to sign and commit to playing at Amsterdam Billiards, the upcoming tournament occurring next week.

When these same pool players make arrangements to go to NYC, they are informed NOW, AFTER THE FACT, they are now NOT ALLOWED to compete in the Amsterdam Billiards tournament that the UPA previously had them sign up for because they are "touring pros," not unless they pay $100 and join the UPA. Meanwhile, the UPA has reserved a hotel room for the "touring pro" and never informed the touring-pro pool player that they will not be allowed to compete unless they join. Other pool players only have to pay $25 to compete and are not required to become a UPA member. What is the logic here?

This tournament is the worst Rip off in pool History every tournament has something added. The Players can not be this Stuped or are they this is an insult to anyone who can cout. This is the Bigest Rip OFF IN HISTORY>.....

Cornfed,

If this really does happen, you wanna go in together and start our own tournament? Sounds like we could make a buck or two! Whoever is putting this on gives the term "hustler" a new meaning!

I wasn't talking about people HERE. I went to the $1,000,000.00 promoter's website and that's where they had the above statement. Sorry for the confusion. You'd think with that kind of money involved, that they'd have some high school graduate to proofread their copy. At least there's no looser's bracket...
