Would you mind posting some pictures. Would like to see your set up.I have a 7x14 and use it often for cue work. I added pieces of dove tail 30"+ out the front and rear to hold a steady rest for shaft work and it does great. Built several carbon shafts and wood shafts along with ring work, tips, ferrell's etc.

Was asked to show more pictures of the mods I did to my Microlux so here they are. I don't do threading on this lathe so I wanted to have control of the power feed speed separate from the headstock speed. This works very well. I used a 1:1...forums.azbilliards.com

all the aluminum came from 8020 on ebay, they tend to have cutoffs they sell for a good price. The slide and delrin guides also can from thereand the extruded aluminum bed? from where etc....???
