Mint McDermott D-25 for sale

Cues R Fun

Got some cues 4 sale
It seems most of the cues sold on here and the interest seems to be in custom cues. But, maybe there are some production cue collectors here that would be interested in this cue.

I happen to have a McDermott D-25 here in mint condition. It looks like it was hardly ever used. Like maybe for a few test shots, and that was it. I bought it from a collector in Menomonee Falls WI who got it from the original owner's estate sale who bought it directly from McDermott when it came out in 1984. So, next buyer gets to be the 4th owner.

I haven't even hit a ball with it. I lost my job this week, so, I am going to be selling the bulk of my collection. Keep an eye out for further postings.

This cue is stated to be valued at $1020 on the McDermott time capsule site. I am asking $895 for it. This stick is sure to continue appreciating.

Shipping will be by USPS at $15 + insurance. Unless the buyer states a preference for some other shipping method.

PM me to inquire.

Well, if it sold new for $560 in 1990, it's got to be worth more than that.

Someone who is trying to complete out their D series collection might be interested.

What do you base your estimate on? Any data you can refer me to?

It's real hard to say actually... Honestly speaking productions aren't valued that much anymore. What you're asking is pretty steep for a Mcdermott especially. Mcdermott cues aren't really exactly collector's item per say, to the extent that its value appreciates over time.

This might be a rare antique, I've no idea but what you're asking for is equivalent to a new custom cue I can get, like a Plain jane from Cory Banhart (heck even a pointed cue on AZ) or a pointed Tony Zinola.

No ill-intentions intended though. Just trying to let you know what perhaps there's no takers now...

GL on your sale man

Cheers,
Clarence

generally speaking, in this economy those time capsule mcdermotts usually fetch about half of what the site says their value is.

you can search these forums for all threads with mcdermott in the title and see what people are asking for which cues. I know there are a few D-23s that have come up in mint condition and they aren't moving at an asking price of ~$450.

best of luck.

Hey
I check the auctions on ebay on a Daily bases
Also visit az several Times every Day so i dont miss Anything
There is d23 on ebay start Price 350 been there 2 weeks no bids 2 shaft
Nice condition

one went off last week on the 'Bay for under 300..There's special math that you have to do on the BB and time capsule prices on McD's. I have several D series starting at the D-15 and going up, I didn't pay over 300 for any of them. Just my experience...

Mostly custom centric on this site

Well, I haven't been associated with this site very long. But, browsing around, it appears to me this crowd is predominately custom oriented and not too fond of productions. So, I'm thinking many of the opinions are skewed as a result.

However, I do know there are plenty of McDermott classics collectors in this country. I guess they just aren't members here. However, I am of the opinion that McD makes a darn good cue and do some really nice design work. Better than most customs I've seen. But, that's just my opinion. The challenge is finding a place to market them other than eBay or a custom centric site like this one.

As for eBay, that is a place where people sell out of desperation more than anything else. (Again, just MHO). It seems almost everything is under priced there. But, then, I've seen some pretty outrageously over priced cues on there, too. But, not too often.

However, I have a hard time understanding why this cue would be worth less than $400.

D series McDermott is like the R series Schon, it is desired by McDermott fans for its playability as well as collectors.
Does it have like a 14mm shaft? I think they came that way.

The majority of the cue buying public are here on AZ,the market dictates the price a cue will sell for regardless of what the Blue Book or McDermott's web site list .There are many buyers here for your cue at market price. The fact that you are fairly new to Az and don't have many post or no itrader doesn't help, that being said you have a very nice cue with great shaft wood.

I figure $400 - $500, if condition is like new. Hope you get back to work so you can keep & play the cue! GL either way!
