If anyone is looking for a new book on pool this is it! I was exposed to this book about a month ago and was told I should pick it up. Well my copy came yesterday...ordered right here http://marketplace.azbilliards.com/store/product.php?productid=17256&cat=339&page=2. Anyway, I had a chance to browse through it yesterday and was totally impressed. Definitely one of the best books I've seen. This book starts with the basics, covering the table, felt, cue, bridge, stance, stoke, etc, but has some info and depth other books do not offer. This book is full of drills and insight such as racking 9 ball, use of side spin, stun shot, & kiss and throw shot. Diagrams are well drawn and accurate use of lines for position play and contact point on object ball.
Modern Pool contains many position drills which I have never seen. The section of Theoretical Game Sequences contains sections on break balls, position after the break, checking the rack (very good), push out, safeties after the break, intentional fouls, 8 ball, straight pool and 10 ball break. The entire book goes into techniques and tactics that are just not found in other books. I rate this book a 10 on a 1-10 scale.
