Moisture meter

Harbor Freight is selling a CEN-TECH wood moisture meter for $20.

Any chance it's accurate, or would it be a waste of money?

BTW, how do you verify the accuracy of any moisture meter?

have one from Harbor Frt,,,can't attest to its accuracy; but if you use it exclusively, at least all your moisture contents will be similar in comparison...

hope I made a little sense.....(if the meter is only 95% accurate, it'll be the same 95% accurate on everything you measure with it ?)

The one I got from harbor freight seemed like it was more for testing fresh cut firewood to see if it is dry enough to burn rather than kiln dried wood, or all my wood is at 0% moisture according to the meter lol :) I would not buy it if I were you just my two cents. And like in the post above you get what you pay for.

Good Luck

Bill the Cat...Save the money, and buy a pinless one. JMO

I've got a Ligomat pin type moisture meter myself. When doing research before buying I decided on the pin type although it was much more exspensive and harder to use than the pinless. The pin type can be used on both boards and dowells where as the pinless works only on flat lumber. Once the boards are turned to dowells a pinless will no longer work.
