Mosconi Cup and World Championship 2017 at the same days??

Usually there's many rounds of qualifiers before the actual tournament starts I'd assume the mosconi cup won't conflict however I could be wrong

A 9 ball event doesn't last 12 days. It is just the stupid way they list it every year. I don't think the actual tournament starts until Saturday. Qualifiers are a not a Stage 1. no matter how they want to advertise it. :rolleyes:


Here is last year's schedule where you can see the first 5 days weren't even the actual championship event.

DATES
Qualifying Tournament ( Stage 1 ) 25th till 28th July 2016 (4 Days)
Players Meeting and Draw Friday, 29th July 2016 5:00 p.m. (At the Hotel)
Main Event ( Stage 2 ) Group Round 30th July till 1st August 2016 (3 Days)
Final Round by 64 players 2nd till 4th August 2016 (3 Days)

W8B and Kuwait Open?

My question is whatever happened to the much publicised World 8 Ball championship (not Darren's 8 ball series ) that was announced last year and the Kuwait Open ? Don't tell me they scrapped those.

The "WPA World 8 Ball" was quietly scrapped and renamed. I asked the same thing back in August when there were all the WPA threads about lack of payment at WPA and Chinese tournaments. It went from being a WPA World 8 Ball Championships in Toronto that was set aside in 2016 to support this new event in China (as the 2017 World 8 Ball Championships), to being quietly renamed & downgraded to the Jinan Heritage Classic 8-Ball which wasn't even confirmed a month out.

At the time if you were to look it up in Google and find last year's announcement the linked page had actually been rewritten to point to this "Classic"...

I am still awaiting confirmation from phone conversations today about the Jinan Heritage Classic 8-Ball event scheduled for Jinan next month. The news I’m awaiting is most likely not going to be good. They did say the event is not cancelled, but wouldn’t confirm if it would go ahead either. If the event is cancelled, we will be seeking compensation, but that’s no guarantee either. Please advise your players of the situation and warn them not to buy any tickets if they haven’t already done so. I will update you immediately something is received.

Why are they keep changing the month of the World Championship anyway? September, then July, then December. Why not have it in a specific month every year?
